Air Trikes: Pictures&videos

Russian trikers have a lot of work experience. They do agro spraying, pipeline patrol, aero photography, beach flying, take skydivers up etc. There are military special trikes. From the end of 2008 a Rescue Evacuation Vehicle (REV), 3-place trike was officially accepted by Russian Emergency Situation ministry for work at remote areas (in fact most of Russian areas in Siberia are remotes) together with helicopters. The Pilot can fly with Paramedic to Patient, and even come back with Patient if necessary. Before placing the order for a serial REV, Russian officials tested different aircraft engines. The winner became 100HP 4-stroke G13BB with SPG2-3 and KOOLprop. Reliability, high power, low cost, low grade fuel acceptability, fuel efficiency, throttle response, low maintenance, no any adjustment depends on the weather or altitude, stable start and running at low temp - Geo-Suzuki is #1 here. This engine is probably the most popular trike engine there.

Some other samples of 3-place trikes used in Russia and Ukraine. "Commando" usually made with Honda and Suzuki-GEO. 3-place float trikes - in production with Rotax, Suzuki, Subaru, BMW.

Before Sun n'Fun 2008 I visited my friend Buddy Babcock in Florida. He tested my Eagle trike with 100HP Suzuki-GEO G13BB engine and X-155 wing and was really impressed. His own trike is DTA Voyager with Rotax 912S. Buddy said me that comparatively with his DTA my trike has shorter takeoff and better climbing, the engine runs smoother, with faster throttle response. He immediately ordered 2 GEO engine kits for his trikes, and 3 more in a couple of months. Looks like his first trike with GEO-Suzuki G13BB+SPG2+KOOLprop is ready.

Buddy is a well known trike designer and builder, former Harley Davidson bike builder. His original trikes are welded from chromoly steel tubes. They are strong, comfortable and his "Bad Boy" style is very attractive visually. The same time his trikes are heavier and more draggy than "classical aviation style" trikes, so they need more powerful engines to fly as good as other trikes. I think he has found this engine, and his customer (he had Buddy's Trooper trike with 582 before) looks completely satisfied.

Starting from 2009, new Eagle trikes are available. There are Solo, Universal 2-place (for light engine like Rotax), and Suzuki-GEO (G10 and G13) versions. You can order a set of plans, kit (to buid E-AB trike) or ready-to-fly trike. Trike with Tundra tires is a standard version now.

Sun and Fun 2004. Great show in Florida!

A lot of Sun, Fun, Flying and Talking. This magnificient fiesta gave me so much energy for all the year. It was also a good business experience. We showed KLASS and Eagle trikes in our boot. It was our first but very successful year. We sold 2 trikes (all we had "for sale"), got some orders and new students for my partners (Tampabay Aerosport trike school). Fauna in Florida showed us a lot of surprises. Have you ever seen this beast before? Looks like he also wants to fly...		Why not! We took any interested person up for free...


...so one of our trikes was up almost all the day. Most time it was my KLASS-GEO...		...but Eagle flew there too. I had one wing for both trikes.

American people like all colors of planes about equally but looks like they like white stars and red strips more equally than something else.		Do you like this smallest VTOL jet?


Of cource, it was said to as : "No low pass over the strip". We didn't do it... Almost.		I only wanted to see this originally painted Quicksilver closer.


Pilots' briefing...or old scouts' party? The weather was fine all the week and all our daily briefings were full of enthusiasm.		We flew almost all the week. It wasn't easy. I was getting a lot of Florida Midday Thermal Turbulence kicks (it was Sun)+ vortex turbulence from up to 20 aircraft flying the same small UL pattern (it was Fun).


Only the last day of exhibition my wife and I decided to go and look around. It was really impossible to see all exposition for one day. If you want to come next year - try to come for a whole week		Unfortunately, even this great event has his end. I am sure I'll be back at Sun and Fun 2005. Meet me there next year!
